What’s love got to do with it?

Multi-talented Mairtín de Cógáin returns to the Cork Midsummer Festival this week with a one-man show called “Thailand: What’s love got to do with it?“. It looks to be a great story set-up with plenty of scope for dodgy one-liners and a good laugh. From the press release:

July 2006. The economy’s flying in Celtic tiger Cork, and Declan is off to Thailand for the holiday of a lifetime with the lads. 24 years old, in a foreign land, Declan embarks on a bizarre journey of self-discovery and cheap thrills. You see, Declan’s been going through a bit of a bad patch with the ol’dolls back home. So it’s off to Pattaya for two weeks to end the drought once and for all.

It’s on in the Quad on Tuckey St from Tuesday to Saturday this week at 8:30pm and is definitely worth checking out. Be warned that it does contain strong sexual references if you haven’t taken the hint from the press release blurb!

Full details available from the festival website.

Mairtín was kind enough to play at my charity trad gig back in March this year and has quite a stage presence so I’m sure he’ll do a great job with this show.
